Our algebra lolly factory

All of the students were assigned jobs in a lolly factory making packets of 10 lollies. They had 4 lolly types to chose from: jellybeans, snakes, fizzy lollies and gummy bears. Once they made a pile of ten, they wrote the number sentence that could be sent to the factory to have the bags filled. We found that 10 could = 2+2+1+5 or 3+1+4+2 and so on. This was a great lead into our algebra unit showing that a number can be made up of different combinations or broken down into it's parts.

Term 2 mufti day

Football World Cup themed Mufti Day...and two Room 9 birthdays on the same day. So we celebrated with a shared morning tea, a video and even a bit of happy dancing at the end of the day! Good times in Room 9!
